 Yeah, let’s face it. Most of the time, people don’t know if they’re being successful with their search until they all start landing interviews or, you know, hopefully, get some job offers. But there’s a whole bunch of other things you need to look at before then that can indicate the health of your job search.

🌟 Here are some key metrics to evaluate your job search:

• You should land between 1 – 3 interviews for every application you submit.
• If you get an automated rejection within 24-72 hours after you apply, your resume is screened out by the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
• Your resume should include 60-70% or more of the keywords from the job description to get past the screening computers.

Concerning applications…

Don’t be intimidated by a high number of applicants for any given job.

Well, if there are about 6,000 applicants, it will be hard to get through the chatter of unqualified applicants.

However, even before AI entered the picture, it was normal for HR to get 200-300 applicants per job.

That doesn’t mean your chances are zero.

It just means you need to do a better job with your materials, whether it is improving your keyword optimization, making sure your resume is ATS compliant, or highlighting your achievements and top skills.

Here’s a big secret:

More than half of those applicants are going to bomb because they’re not going to follow the actual instructions in the job posting on how to apply for the job. So don’t feel intimidated by those numbers. You still have a shot if you are applying the correct way, as indicated in the job posting.
